Youth In Partnership

Edmund Rice Services Mt Atkinson partners with Kirrip Aboriginal Corporation to deliver the Youth in Partnership program, which runs every Tuesday during school terms.

Kirrip Aboriginal Corporation is the only community-controlled First Nations organisation in the western suburbs of Melbourne. Kirrip works in partnership with the community, businesses and government to meet the needs of the local Aboriginal community.

The Youth In Partnership program for Aboriginal youth aged 12-17 began online in September 2020 and moved to meeting on-site at MACC in November 2020.

ERSMA and Kirrip consulted with young people about what they wish to gain from Youth In Partnership and used their voice to build the program. The youth expressed a desire to connect with their peers, learn more about culture and identity and learn from our Elders.

In April 2021, the group grew to enable primary-aged children to also attend the program.

Each weekly session includes a yarning circle and a recreational activity or cultural activity, or a combination of both.

How To Get Involved

We understand that joining a new group can be a little scary some times. The group members and Edmund Rice staff will do their best to make you feel welcome.

Give Michael a call, text or email before coming along so we can make sure we have enough supplies for you.
